Here's a timetable including the main events of the day...
11:00: The Queen leaves Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession that makes its way through the streets to the Houses of Parliament.
11:15: The Queen arrives at Sovereign's Entrance at the Houses of Parliament.
11:25 (approx): The Queen arrives in the House if Lords.
11:30 (approx): Black Rod is send to summon the House of Commons.
11.37: The Queen begins the speech from the throne in the House of Lords.
14.30 (Commons) and 15.30 (Lords): Motion for Humble Address - the Queen is thanked for the speech and the Commons and Lords begin debating the Government's legislative programme. -

Another tradition sees a government whip held "hostage'' at Buckingham Palace during the duration of the Queen's visit to the Palace of Westminster. The hostage is released upon the safe return of the Queen. The custom dates back to when the monarch and Parliament were on less cordial terms! -
